For many millennia it was believed that human consciousness is a blank sheet at birth. Today we know the human mind is born into earthly existence already knowing much about its physical and social roles. Gary Marcus, a professor, psychologist and author of several books on the subject of the mind, points out: Initial organization of the brain cannot rely on experience, thus Nature provides the first draft.
Understanding behavior in these terms is vital to understanding psychology of human moral values. We naturally evolve towards moral truth and this process is influenced by practical necessities. Such facts can be further confirmed by observing personal experiences and other humans. Children, when given a choice, predominantly choose good over bad. But the best proof of course, is evolution itself. Today at large we possess higher moral values than our predecessors thousands of years ago.
There’s an evolutionary impulse in the Universe towards morality. It’s an inherent expression of our consciousness and both are the result of evolution. These qualities are built into who we are and grow with expansion of our awareness
