In simple terms, to be interdependent, it means to depend upon each other. But examining the true meaning of the word “inter-dependence” reveals a far deeper understanding of Nature and our relationships.
🧝♂️
👨🎓
.
Are you DEPENDENT on your partner? Does it feel good and comfortable? Probably not, because you are NOT in your natural state of being.
😮
🙄
.
Here’s the naked truth: For two or more people or parties to become truly inter-dependent, they must first be INDEPENDENT.
🙂
Only truly independent parties can successfully become inter-dependent. Why? Because true inter-dependence demands WILLFUL PARTICIPATION and EQUAL or FAIR CONTRIBUTION. In simple words, if one party is not truly independent, or capable of contributing their fair share, then she or he is DEPENDENT. And when in a relationship their dependence is only likely to increase. And hence the relationship will never become truly inter-dependent.
🤔
🤨
.
But why is inter-dependence such a big and important issue? Because we are:
1. Beings designed for GROWTH
🕺
2. Growth demands a fair degree of FREEDOM
🧚♂️
3. A society based on GROWTH & FREEDOM necessarily requires INTER-DEPENDENCE
👫
.
Can every person become truly inter-dependent? Sure. Inter-dependence is our individual and collective path. How do we begin? I would say the first and most necessary step is to KNOW WHO WE ARE. In simple words, we are PHYSICAL, EMOTIONAL, INTELLECTUAL AND SPIRITUAL. By far the biggest obstacle I see is lack of EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE.
