What does it mean to LOVE TRULY?

For something to be absolutely TRUE, it must have ABSOLUTE VALUES. This means it must satisfy one important condition and that is it must be UNCONDITIONAL. No value which is limited can be absolute.

Why?

Because to be absolutely TRUE it means to be UNLIMITED, NEVER-CHANGING and COMPLETE. Nothing needs to be added or altered. This is why we say that all truth is relative and only Absolute Truth is, in fact, TRUE. The ABSOLUTE incorporates all and everything and therefore it denotes the ultimate existence: It is a measurement of Absolute Constants (see Book I for absolute constants).

For love to be TRUE, the same absolute measurements must apply. That’s how Earthly Love becomes TRUE LOVE. What does this mean in practice?

It means this: To love TRULY is not about “doing” or “having” or “owning” or “benefiting from” something or somebody. When something is perfect it has no need to move, to own or to become something.  Therefore:

TRUE LOVE is BEING Who We Truly Are. Being the True Self.

In practical terms, this means we must go within and awaken to the TRUTH of the SELF and simply BE that TRUTH. It’s so simple, yet it could take a lifetime to realize it or longer.

Put differently, when we love truly, we love for the pleasure of loving, by being the true Self, not for the sake of receiving some benefit in return. After all, BEING who we truly are is the greatest benefit we can possibly achieve. To borrow from the writings of Khalil Gibran, the third best-selling poet of all time: TO LOVE TRULY IS TO BLEED WILLINGLY AND WITH JOY.

Every genuine TRUTH will embrace both PLEASURE and PAIN, for polarity is the nature of our reality. This understanding provides a clear path toward re-discovering the MEANING OF LIFE and HAPPINESS. We cannot find true happiness in our ceaseless pursuit of pleasure. True happiness can only come from within, from understanding WHO WE TRULY ARE. More about MEANING in some other post.

IN SUMMARY:

When we love truly, the benefit comes from BEING WHO WE TRULY ARE. So we give generously and completely. This means True Love is not knowledge. The mind would love to think so, but it’s a false premise. TRUE LOVE IS AN UNDERSTANDING. This understanding arises from a deeper dimension of Who We Are: From the INFINITE POTENTIAL that lurks within us, is us. 

In short, to Love Truly we don’t have to go somewhere, find someone or have something; we simply need to awaken to the truth of the Self.

So reach within and BE it, Live it, Share it: Be who you truly are!
