124. THE ROLE OF FAMILY IS CHANGING

For thousands of years, the FAMILY represented the basic organizational unit.

This is now drastically changing.

More and more, the necessities of every-day life are being transferred to the local community and, on a larger scale, to the national government. Today our kids spend more time in school and afternoon activities than at home.

Parents spend more time at work than at home. As technology takes over, we are discussing subsidizing basic income and some are even proposing that every child be given a certain amount of wealth at birth and so forth.

What does all this mean? It means that kids like grown-ups are becoming less dependent on the family and more dependent on the community and social welfare. It also means WE NEED to get our POLITICS and government RIGHT!

However, to do this successfully, we need to first UNDERSTAND THE WORLD AND WHO WE TRULY ARE.

I often find it frustrating, seeing just how busy we all are and subsequently, how little attention we give to UNDERSTANDING what’s actually going on. Kids rush off to school, grownups rush off to seek success and position in society, politicians rush off to preserve their credibility, and the world continues to rush into the UNCERTAINTY.

IN SUMMARY:

Yes, there are many great things happening. But the odds have never been greater. If we get it wrong in the next 20-30 years, we may no longer have the opportunity to correct our mistakes.

My biggest concern is that WE KNOW A LOT, BUT UNDERSTAND VERY LITTLE.

PS: Good morning the understanding world, wherever you are
